Product Design to Production
Kathmandu | Quest Tent
Standard camping archetypes often prioritize sleep stowage over the quality of the experience. The Quest project sought to subvert this norm, reimagining the 2-person shelter as a social hub. The brief required a unique intersection of lifestyle and utility: a car-camping solution prioritizing expansive living space while integrating seamlessly with the Goal Zero power and lighting ecosystem.
The execution required a rigorous balance of scale and weight. We focused on providing a vestibule large enough for a bicycle or motorcycle—offering true multi-modal utility—while strictly maintaining a sub-5kg footprint.
Through a collaborative process, we refined a specialized 3-pole architecture, utilizing extensive wind tunnel testing to ensure structural integrity met Kathmandu’s exacting standards. Validation was found in the elements; many nights spent in the field by our team and testers provided the insights necessary to bridge the gap between a conceptual brief and a high-performance product. The result is a refined, tech-integrated shelter built for the evolving needs of the modern adventurer.
